Picture 33 - Fritton Decoy.

FRITTON DECOY. Celebrated for its picturesqueness. Fritton Lake is also well-known for its wild duck decoys used for the capture of wild fowl which flock here in large numbers every season. The seductive-looking leafy bower here shown is one of a number on this lake; a few tame ducks are fed at the entrance to entice the wild birds to enter their captivity. In summer-time a very pleasant excursion may be made from Lowestoft to St. Olave’s, on the Waveney, and a walk or ride may then be taken to Fritton, giving a glance at the quaint little church on the way.
